The Governor’s Office of Student Achievement rolled out its STAR rating system last week to the consternation of many school systems and schools.

The rating system gives each school and system an overall rating of one to five stars which most are interpreting as A, B, C, D, and F grades.  By and large the GOSA system is more severe than the CCRPI index and many systems and schools have had to scramble to explain the ratings to their constituents.

 Dealing with the new, more severe rating system has been a chore for most school and school systems.  An interesting question is which rating system, STAR or CCRPI, will be used to determine the Governor’s Failing
