Keynote speakers, John Hattie, Doug Fisher, and John Almarode will share evidence-based practices and recommendations for reinvesting and rebounding.  Using the Visible Learning Research, they will share how to best leverage learning recovery strategies and recommendations that are allowable use of Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) Funds.

John Hattie’s notable publications include Visible Learning, Visible Learning for Teachers, Visible Learning and the Science of How We Learn, Visible Learning into Action, and 10 Mindframes for Visible Learning.  In 2020, Hattie, Douglas Fisher, and Nancy Frey published The Distance Learning Playbook Grades K-12 Teaching for Engagement and Impact in Any Setting. “The pandemic teaching of mid-2020 was not really distance learning, but rather crisis teaching.”

Douglas Fisher’s focus is on improving students’ learning and impacting professional learning communities.  Recently Fisher and his colleagues released, Rebound: Rebuilding Agency, Accelerating Learning Recovery, and Rethinking Schools and Leading the Rebound: 20+ Must Dos to Restart Teaching and Learning to address the collective traumas experienced during the pandemic and rebuild a sense of agency and self so teachers and students can link student success to their efforts.

Dr. John Almarode, a bestselling author, has worked with schools, classrooms, and teachers all over the world Recently John, Douglas Fisher, Nancy Frey and others have developed a new framework for developing, implementing, and sustaining professional learning communitiesPLC+, a framework to build capacity within teacher-led teams to maximize student learning

 Up next, John and his colleagues are focusing on the process of implementation – taking evidence-based practices and moving them from intention to implementation—through a series of on-your-feet-guides around PLCs, Visible LearningVisible Teaching, and the SOLO Taxonomy.
