Lissa Pijanowski has served as a public school educator for over 18 years and currently serves as the Associate Superintendent of Academics and Accountability for Forsyth County Schools. She is responsible for Curriculum, Instruction & Assessment, Professional Learning, Academic Support Programs, and Career & Technical Education. Lissa works with teachers and leaders who are committed to designing learning experiences that reflect high expectations, promote student engagement, and produce results. Forsyth County Schools is considered a lighthouse district in Georgia for fostering innovative practice and achieving high levels of student performance.

Prior to working in Forsyth County Schools, Lissa served as the Director of School Improvement at the Georgia Department of Education. At the GDOE, Lissa led regional school improvement teams to reduce the number of Needs Improvement Schools in Georgia through intense training on data analysis, performance standards, and focused improvement planning. Lissa has also served Georgia's children as a school administrator and classroom teacher.

Lissa is currently serving on the Governor's Race to the Top committee for Teacher Effectiveness. She is serving her second term on the board of GACIS (Georgia Association of Curriculum and Instructional Supervisors) and just completed a three-year term on the board of GSSA (Georgia School Superintendents' Association). Additionally, Lissa is a member of the following professional associations: GAEL Georgia Association of Educational Leaders; ASCD Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development; NSDC National Staff Development Council. Lissa also serves her community as a member of the United Way Allocations Panel for Children and Youth, as well as Leadership Forsyth.

Lissa holds a Doctorate of Education from Nova Southeastern University, a Masters in Educational Leadership from Georgia State University, and a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Georgia. Lissa has presented at numerous educational conferences and is a published author.
