
Gloria Tally
Gloria Talley is beginning her fifth year as the Deputy Superintendent for Teaching and Learning for DeKalb County Schools. She previously served as the Director of LEAD for the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) in Atlanta. While at SREB, Gloria provided technical assistance to urban school districts around the country and their university partners working to change the way school leaders are recruited and prepared. Gloria worked for nine years with Furman University and the School District of Greenville County in Greenville, SC to develop and carry out a collaborative redesigned principal preparation program with a focus on curriculum, instruction and assessment. Mrs. Talley received her Ed. S. (Administration and Supervision) from East Carolina University, M.Ed (Administration) from the University of North Carolina-Wilmington, B.S. (English) from East Carolina University, and is a graduate of the Principals’ Executive Program at Chapel Hill and Leadership DeKalb. She is a doctoral candidate in Educational Leadership at Georgia Southern University. Mrs. Talley has more than 30 years of experience as a high school teacher, staff developer, college professor and national consultant. She conducts numerous presentations and workshops both locally and nationally. Her message to educators and to communities as a whole challenges them to think about how education needs to change to prepare all learners, both children and adults, for the future. Mrs. Talley lives with her husband, Mike, in the Tucker community and attends St. Bedes Episcopal Church where she is a member of the Vestry, the Outreach Committee and Share the Care Committee.
